Claims Manager

Due to an upcoming retirement, RAM is currently seeking a manager to lead our claims department. The goals of this position are to provide strong leadership to our claims staff and to provide a great experience and service to our policyholders, agents, and member companies. Our claims manager is a key member of our leadership team. 

Essential Functions
 Responsibilities include claims handling, training, budgeting, and personnel administration.
 Maintaining a pool of independent adjusters, experts, and attorneys capable of representing RAM.
 Assisting the claim staff, granting settlement authority, reviewing and resolving coverage questions, and collaborating on claims strategies.
 Acting as a claims contact and resource for RAM member companies.
 Providing assistance and being a resource for our underwriting and R&D departments.
 Staying abreast of court rulings and legal decisions that may impact claims handling.
 Adhering to company policies and procedures.

Requirements
 Previous claims experience is required; outside adjusting and a background in property,
casualty, and workers’ compensation claims is desired.
 Experience with structured settlements, subrogation, arbitration, and loss reserving is desired.
 A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
 Excellent social, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
 Strong organizational, time management, and teamwork skills are required.
 Willingness to present at RAM and industry meetings and to travel to visit with our agents.
