The Engineering Manager position provides technology leadership for various systems that support the Wells Fargo Small Business Technology teams and the Business Banking Group credit analysts. This role will drive the underwriting and portfolio management platform consolidation for low-touch, end-to-end automated solutions. The candidate should have strong experience building enterprise-grade applications on Java and supporting open source libraries, with a focus on integration using REST and SOAP web services, MQ/ESB, etc. Candidate should have prior team building experience as well as mentoring his/her own team, including coordinating across various teams on enterprise projects.

This role demands a focus on establishing and maintaining trusted partnerships, application portfolio leadership, effective team leadership, and delivering value for the business. In addition, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate competency in the areas of collaborative problem solving, effective consultation, and critical analysis of requirements and design. The role will work with business and technology teams across the United States and India.

Primary responsibilities include the following:

- Management of a medium-sized team of engineers dedicated to understanding business requirements and delivering solutions to meet those requirements
- Creative problem solving in areas of workload management, prioritization, and technical challenges.
- Creating and maintaining highly secure mission critical applications
- Creating and managing high-performing and scalable solutions
- Coaching and mentoring, nurturing the talent of approximately 10 team members with varying experience levels
- Communicating status, plans, progress, and issues with a wide variety of audiences, including senior technical and business management, peers, and technical staff

As a Team Member Manager, you are expected to achieve success by leading yourself, your team, and the business. Specifically you will:
??? Lead your team with integrity and create an environment where your team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them.
??? Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • 4+ years of leadership or management experience, in a technology environment
  • 4+ years of experience managing software development projects
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in science or technology
  • 4+ years of experience leading multiple projects
  • 4+ years of experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) tools



Desired Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with Agile practices
  • 5+ years of experience with an industry-standard scripting language
  • 4+ years of Build and CICD technologies experience
  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud technologies
  • 10+ years of Java experience
  • 4+ years of Hibernate experience
  • 4+ years of Oracle experience
  • 4+ years of RESTful or SOAP web services
  • 4+ years of SAST (Static Analysis Software Testing) experience
  • 4+ years of secure SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) methodologies experience
  • 4+ years of Web Services experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of FileNet
  • Knowledge and understanding of Single Sign-on applications
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology architecture: mainframe to services oriented architecture
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology middleware: performance tuning and analyze bottlenecks



Other Desired Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience with Small Business Administration systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of business rules management systems (BRMS) such as Blaze or Drools


Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed
