Job Designation

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer uses expertise on a variety of complex manufacturing issues to increase the capabilities to produce products. Directly impacts all aspects of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and innovation, as well as the sustaining and growth efforts of operations. The primary function of this position is to provide engineering support directly to the manufacturing floor. The individual in this position is responsible for sustainable results versus stated objectives in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining accurate Mfg. Outlines, Bills of Material, and Mfg. Routers.
  • Trouble shoot existing manufacturing processes, non-conforming parts, fixtures, tooling, and equipment with a high sense of urgency
  • Design, build, or procure improved fixtures, tooling, and equipment.
  • Utilization of learned MPS principles to promote and implement continuous improvements focused on the elimination of waste in all areas; Kaizen leadership
  • Collect root cause data to develop, own, and execute living action plans to address top Pareto items adversely affecting performance in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth.
  • The ability to interface with design engineering and marketing managers in order to provide low-cost, high-quality product to enable market segment growth.
  • Work with Cell Leader and Cell Associates within area(s) of responsibility to identify opportunities for improvement and drive the execution of countermeasures to address.
  • Participate in the design and transfer-to-production process. Advise the design team of profitability and manufacturability issues while identifying the processes to be utilized in producing new product. Ensures proper design for quality and manufacturability.
  • Active and positive participation on the Material Review Board (MRB).

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering or related technical field
Years Experience: 5 - 7 years preferably in electrical assembly, manufacturing process development and implementation, assembly tooling and fixtures design, lean manufacturing, and related equipment
Skills:

  • Experience in conformal coating, flow solder, SMT, rigid epoxy encapsulation/casting a plus
  • Creation, review and maintenance of engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to collect root cause data, develop, own, and execute action plans to achieve desired results
  • Must be PC literate with spreadsheets, word processing, MRP and scheduling programs. Engineering drafting program experience a plus
  • Supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment a plus
  • Capable of assuming a leadership role within Operations desirable
  • Knowledge of Military, Commercial Aerospace specifications, IPC-610 and ISO requirements preferred

Performance significantly impacts Division's operational and financial results, positively and negatively. This position is the primary driver for sustaining efforts such as process improvement and control, and growth of business with new product implementation. Positive performance greatly enhances the Division's ability to achieve rapid, continuous improvement in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
