Backend Developer


I am currently seeking a Backend Developer for one of our clients in the Madison Area for a full-time, permanent position within their company. This developer will be responsible for operating within one of their security teams to provide API development and connecting security tools for data integration.


This is a permanent role with a salary range of 85-110k and a list of complimentary benefits including Heath, Dental, and Vision plans, Paid Paternal/Maternal leave, Salary Continuation, Educational Reimbursement Program, and plans to help ensure your financial security today and in the years ahead.


Partial on-site work will be required - there will be a 50/50 onsite/remote presence for this role. Strict guidelines and procedures are being enforced to ensure employee safety when on-site.

Description:


The Security Analyst must be detail oriented, have strong analytical and problem solving abilities. Must understand and conceptualize applications from both a technical/programming perspective and a business point of view. Will perform all or part of the software development life cycle and follow an Agile methodology. Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including coding, testing, debugging and installing to support an organization's application systems. Experience with business operations and how the business operations use the software applications and/or other applications must be possessed along with excellent programming abilities in common languages aligned to the team needs.


Duties Include:


Gather data and analyze business and user needs in consultation with both business managers and end-users.


Must be able to work independently and as a part of a development team working on small, medium, large and enterprise projects.


Will lead small and medium cross-departmental projects, and will direct the work of project team members.


Analyze business application requirements for functional business areas.


Gather business requirements and develop specifications for software solutions.


Possess strong interview skills. Interview project stakeholders, document findings and make detailed recommendations.


Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.


A thorough understanding of relational database practices.


Familiarity and experience with major enterprise security tools such as firewalls, identity systems, SIEM, end point protection.


Familiar with data modeling tools and methodologies, and knowledgeable of data security principles.


Analyze organizational data requirements and create logical and physical data flow models.


Address data quality issues with clients and management.


Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.


Performs a variety of complicated tasks.


A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.


Will provide second level application support for any help desk tickets that cannot be answered by the help desk team.


Write code and debug software applications.


Write IT test plans and execute IT & Business created test plans.


Develop software prototypes.


Recommend system changes and enhancements.


Serve as a model and mentor to IT-Co-op developers and other developers that are less experienced.


Qualifications:



  • Strong API understanding.

  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or BeanShell.

  • Skill sets in languages such as Java, Python.

    • Java proficiency is a must, Python is a plus



  • Roughly 5 years of related development experience is required

    • Experience developing on or with security projects or tools is a plus




Preferred:



  • Cyber Security experience.

  • Data modeling experience.

  • Familiarity and experience with major enterprise database programs such as SQL Server or DB2.
