Job Summary:

Markel Corporation, a Fortune 500 Insurance holding company (MKL: $1100 a share), is seeking an experienced highly organized, detail oriented individual to join the Insurance Regulatory Compliance team as a Senior Regulatory Compliance Analyst.

This role supports the organization's mission of maintaining regulatory compliance within the specialty insurance policy life cycle for admitted and non-admitted markets.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and evaluates all state insurance laws, regulations, and bulletins, and forms any needed action plans to ensure the organization's legal compliance, and communicates to affected areas.
  • Coordinates, researches, creates, and rate, rule, form, and underwriting guideline filings to state insurance departments pursuant to state and internal procedures, researches and analyzes state objections, and negotiates approval of those filings using SERFF and Florida IRFS.
  • Coordinates and submits other regulatory filings to state insurance departments
  • Reviews and drafts policy forms, endorsements, policyholder notices and all related legal correspondence for adherence to state insurance laws and regulations.
  • Regulatory liaison for internal management and other associates, and external partners.
  • Researches and analyzes all relevant legal and regulatory materials to determine scope and impact as assigned in response to requests or inquiries from internal management and other associates, and regulators.
  • Identifies and evaluates alternatives to achieve and maintain compliance while meeting business goals
  • Participates in product development.
  • Manages complaints, market conduct exams, and partner and other audits.
  • Collaborates with external legal counsel as needed.
  • Handles larger and more complex filings and other projects.
  • Builds and maintains solid relationships with all levels of internal and external business partners, and regulators.
  • Provides guidance and coaching to other related to regulatory compliance.
  • Provides back up and assistance to supervisor and team members.
  • Qualifications Required:

  • A bachelors or paralegal degree and/or a combination of at least 4-6 years of current regulatory compliance experience in a P&C company is required.
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products: Word & Excel.
  • Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and committed to meeting deadlines and service standards.
  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels and various departments throughout the organization.
  • Able to manage concurrent projects.
  • Flexibility and attention to detail.
  • Strong desire for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with legal/regulatory issues and research preferred.
  • Experience in Personal Lines Insurance and ISO preferred.
