Job Summary

Work collaboratively with infection and prevention and control staff under leadership, to accomplish the goals and objective of the Infection Prevention program. Evaluation infection control trends, practices, and provide educational programs for employees. Possess a basic understanding and working knowledge of microbiology and epidemiology. Responsibilities include surveillance of health care associated infections and reportable illness, evaluation and reporting of statistical information, consultation of asepsis, disinfection, sterilization, isolation, disease transmission and related issues. Monitors compliance standards and regulations, strategies, and evidence-based aspects. Evaluates and improves performance of patient outcomes. Assists with research needs and special projects are assigned. Understand or be willing to learn computer programs and applications necessary for data collection and analysis. Possess good interpersonal skills as well as willingness to seek out new information and knowledge. Able to think critically and problem solve effectively.

Qualifications

Graduate from a National League for Nursing (NLN) or American Association of Colleges for Nursing (AACN) accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Two years of nursing experience required. Current or unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) is required. If applicable, an additional RN state licensure of graduate from an approved Masters of Public Health program may be required, when applicable for practice environment. Two years’ experience in a healthcare field preferred.
Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control, Inc. (CBIC) is required. If certification is not obtained at the time of hire, incumbent has 36 months from date of hire to obtain certification. Current RN license in state of practice is required. Master of Public Health (MPH) - Board certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control, Inc.(CBIC) is required. If certification is not obtained at the time of hire, incumbent has 36 months from date of hire to obtain certification.
