Job Summary

The Scheduling Associate creates schedules for patient care areas and maintains records and a database for staffing scheduling. This position serves as a resource for managers in developing schedules and staffing patterns. The Scheduling Associate adjusts schedules to ensure adequate coverage for staff.

Essential Job Functions

Develops schedules for patient care areas based on house-wide and department scheduling policies, core staffing patterns, and manager requests.

Adjusts and allocates personnel to provide adequate coverage, including sick call replacement, float assignments, adding/deleting staff, and adjusting skill mix based on unit need.

Maintains a database for staffing and scheduling purposes and report generation.

Maintains accurate records and work schedules. Produces various reports, and compiles statistical information both manually and in the computer system. Responsible for informing appropriate management personnel of problems/issues related to staffing.

Responsible for the staffing/scheduling section of orientation for nursing staff for assigned units. Receives patient census/acuity information from nursing unit charge nurses and verifies staffing needs.

Serves as a consultant and resource for managers in developing staffing patterns, creative scheduling alternatives and determining unit position needs.

Responsible for understanding policies and procedures pertaining to staffing and schedules, and functions as a resource to staff and managers.

Serves the department as a Kronos auditor.

Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Demonstrates understanding and follows infection control policies and procedures according to standard operating procedure.

Maintains requirements for age specific competencies for the position and demonstrates the knowledge or principles of growth and developments and the skills necessary to provide patient/customer care/services.

Education & Experience

Associate's-Related Field-Preferred

A minimum of 1 year of related experience-Preferred
