This position leads initiatives for the daily support of products, processes, materials, and equipment to meet production area goals (ie, safety, quality, cost, and delivery). In a fast-paced and dynamic environment, this position will provide support to the Manufacturing organization to facilitate efficient operations within the production area, to optimize existing processes, and to ensure that production goals are met. Additionally, this position requires interfacing with Quality and Research and Development organizations to integrate new products or processes into the existing manufacturing area.

The Arden Hills site has a diverse portfolio of technologies and capabilities that require solving complex problems. This includes but is not limited to batteries and capacitors manufacturing, electronics, coatings, micro sensors, metals processing, molding, capital equipment, sterilization and distribution. We are actively expanding our capabilities to produce new components and subassemblies to support multiple sites across the Boston Scientific network.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Understand engineering principles theories, concepts, practices and techniques. Develop knowledge in a field to become a recognized leader or authority in an area of specialization and applies this knowledge in leadership roles in the company.

Apply creative problem solving with high degree of analytical skill.

Initiate and complete technical activities leading to new or improved products or process, for current programs, next generation programs and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company. Prepares reports and makes presentations to communicate findings.

Communicate effectively to an audience of senior personnel across the network and organizations.

Plan, organize, and prioritize own daily work routine as well as project assignments and maintain project schedules.

Work with vendors/suppliers to design and procure complex tooling, fixtures, and/or equipment.

Analyzes and solves problems from basic engineering principles through a wide range of complex problems which require innovative approaches or a breakthrough in technology.

Cultivates internal and external network of resources to complete tasks. Serves as a resource in the selection, orientation, and training of new engineers in the area. Will lead a project teams, determining goals and objectives for the projects. Mentors employees by sharing technical expertise and providing feedback and guidance.

Develops relationships with R&D, global sourcing, and supplier engineering to pursue new development projects as well as seek cost improvements on existing products. Works cooperatively with Process Development, Quality, Production, and Regulatory in addition to the other functions on complex projects to ensure success

Successfully completes complex engineering work and contributes to new product development teams and product support, typically including the following activities: technology development, test of materials or products, preparation of specifications, Six Sigma, process study, process improvements, and report preparation.

Selects process improvement techniques to solve complex problems and make sound equipment and process recommendations.

Coordinates, manages, and documents project goals and progress and recommends appropriate revisions.

Interacts cross functionally and with internal and external customers. Serves as a consultant for engineering or scientific interpretations and advice on significant matters. Acts as a spokesperson to internal teams on business unit current and future capabilities.

Incorporates business policies and procedures into task completion. Understands the business needs of the company and has knowledge of the customer needs of our business. Understands the business cycle and foresight of emerging technologies trends.

Leads and communicates effectively on cross-functional project teams

What Were Looking for In You:

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, preferably Electrical or Mechanical or similar discipline

5+ years of experience with bachelor's degree, 3+ years with a Master's degree, or equivalent combination of education/work experience

Experience solving advanced technical problem

Experience managing multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously

Experience using Minitab software and proficiency with MS Office

Equipment and Process Validation experience including IQ/OQ/PQ, process characterization

Highly collaborative, with strong written and verbal communication skills, adjusting for audience requirements

Is resilient in the face of setbacks. Plans appropriately for risks and responds positively to unforeseen problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct or indirect people leadership experience managing projects

Experience supporting a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Is a positive agent for change, not bound by the way things are or have always been done.
