Job Responsibilities
  • The Manager, HIM - Resident Services and Assisted Living (RS & AL) will manage and ensure HIM consultants are accountable, productive, and meeting the operational and project needs of the RS and AL services lines.
  • This position reports to the National Campus Health Information Management Director and Privacy Officer. Responsible for supervising HIM - RS and AL consultants and ensuring HIM related system work for RS and AL service lines is in compliance with related laws, regulations and standards of practice as well as meeting the operational and project needs of the RS and AL service lines.
  • Interacts with billing, IST, skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities personnel, and rehab and assisted living consultants to resolve HIM related issues such as legal medical record, electronic medical record management, coding, medical record retention, data integrity, data analysis, and privacy and security of protected health information. Integrates continuous quality assurance and improvements.
  • Directs and coordinates all programs and projects within department. Coordinates manual updates. Provides oversight of day to day responsibilities. Implements Society/Region specific Strategic and operational initiatives.
  • RN (Registered Nurse Required)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field. ICD-10-CM certification required. RHIA or RHIT perferred. 2 years of prior management experience or demonstrated leadership required.

Ability to train staff and resolve issues in a virtual environment. Requires attentiveness to detail and time management skills. Aptitude to conceptualize, plan, and implement stated goals and objectives. Excellent ability to communicate ideas both verbally and in writing to influence others using one-on-one contact, formal presentations, and group discussions. Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (Word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, etc.).

In-depth knowledge of the medical record coding process and Electronic Health Record systems. In-depth knowledge of how to conduct data analysis. In-depth knowledge and understanding of ICD-10 coding compliance and quality assurance. Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pharmacology. Working knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques related to compliant healthcare billing/collections.
