Position Description & Details

The Department of Plant Sciences at North Dakota State University is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to work in the area of breeding, genomics and quantitative genetics of pulse crops. This position involves development of new genetic resources for breeding and genetic mapping, as well as testing of simulation-based breeding design. The incumbent is responsible for development of breeding populations, genotyping and phenotyping activities, as well building and testing of models for simulation-based breeding design. There are opportunities to improve biocomputing skills through tutorials hosted by the NDSU Center for Computationally Assisted Science and Technology, https://www.ccast.ndsu.edu/home/ .

Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD in plant breeding, quantitative genetics, genomics, or related field.
  • Proficiency in the statistical programming language R, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Experience on setting up field experimental design and trait evaluation
  • A demonstrated ability to publish original research in peer-reviewed journals is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and able to work with others in a multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience in analyzing large genomic and phenotypic datasets
