Job Summary

The Respiratory Care Support Tech cleans and assembles all Respiratory Care equipment for patient care use. The tech distributes supplies and equipment as needed to all areas of the hospital. This position is responsible for the distribution of medical gases to designated areas of the hospital.

Essential Job Functions
  • Disassembles, cleans and assembles Respiratory Care equipment and performs preventive maintenance according to standard operating procedure. Properly tags equipment in need of preventive maintenance or repair and notifies Biomed.
  • Maintains mandatory training requirements specific to the position.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the location and use of basic and special equipment and returns equipment to appropriate area following patient use. Performs equipment and supply monitoring and set-up.
  • Tracks and checks for lost charges and reports non-compliance to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
  • Demonstrates understanding and follows infection control policies and procedures according to standard operating procedure.
  • Maintains requirements for age specific competencies for the position and demonstrates the knowledge or principles of growth and developments and the skills necessary to provide patient/customer care/services.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of and compliance with:
  • All pertinent safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Working safely, without causing harm or risk to self, others or property.
  • The work environment safety procedures and prompt reporting of unsafe practices, procedures, accidents, injuries or other safety violations to the Leader.
  • The use of all safety equipment and personal protective equipment.


Required Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross CPR for Prof. Rescue, Within 2 Months of Start Date

Education & Experience
  • Must be a current Respiratory Therapy student.
