Senior Operating Engineer

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma and combination of vocational education and/or experience in the operations and maintenance of high pressure steam heating equipment to total three (3) years is required. Minimum of First Class Engineer's License (Grade B) or Chief Engineer's License (Grade B) is required. Ability to read and write competently and basic computer knowledge is also required. Must have a valid driver’s license. Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist height without accommodation. Capable of entering boilers and tanks, able to climb ladders, crawl on knees, maneuver in tight spaces, and use hand and power tools. Ability to hear alarms, bells, and whistles.  Visual acuity of 20" or less to read controls, meters, gauge glasses, and 20' or more for depth perception and awareness of surroundings.

***THIS IS A TEAMSTER UNIT POSITION***

This position reports to the Heating Plant Supervisor, who is responsible to make daily work assignments. Work assignments are received either orally or with written instructions on a task-to-task basis. Assigned work is reviewed by occasional spot check and completion for accuracy, conformity to instructions, and workmanship quality. Submitted records are reviewed for accuracy and completeness.

• Minimum of First Class Engineer's License (Grade B) or Chief Engineer's License (Grade B) is required.

This position works in a rotating schedule, as the Heating Plant is operational 24/7.  The hours are 6:30 am - 2:30 pm, 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm and 10:30 pm - 6:30 am.  There will be opportunities for overtime work. 

The starting salary for this position is $22.84 per
