SUMMARY: Assembles machines, equipment, and their sub-assemblies following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications. Familiar with and capable of using various types of hand and power tools. Required to perform other miscellaneous tasks as supervision deems necessary.  

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  

· Reads and interprets blueprints and assembly drawings to determine specific assembly requirements.  

· Removes small quantities of metal to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts.  

· Plans assembly procedures, following specifications.  

· Drills, taps, or reams holes.  

· Aligns components and bolts, screws, or rivets them together.  

· Installs moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and works them to test free movement.  

· Aligns and meshes gears in gearbox to assemble system of gears.  

· Tests or assists in testing operation of completed product.  

· Prepares parts for shipping into containers, bands items to pallets and performs other packaging as required.  

· Completes all weekly, daily and monthly 5S tasks.

EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE): High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

  

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  

  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform simple shop math, convert decimals to fractional equivalents.  

  

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  

  

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP software. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or Dynamics D365 is preferred.

· Push/pull Up to 53 lbs. force (total 105 lbs. force) with two employees to initiate large A-frame cart and up to 38 lbs. (total

ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE:  

· May be inside 95% of day, outside 5% of day to deliver parts or bring in parts from outside, temperature exposure may be
70-100 degrees inside near ovens, and outside varies between -20 to 100 degrees + with high humidity in summer.  

· High elevations: Moderate (standing on ladders or assemblies)   

· Moving objects: Slight (hoist, forklifts, rolling carts)  

· Noise level: Moderate  

· Slippery surface: Slight (wet floor, sand/dirt on floor dragged in on forklift tires)  

· Vibration: Moderate (hand tools)  

· Air pollution: Slight (dust, welding smoke)  

  

VISION AND HEARING REQUIRED:  

· Near vision and depth perception: Significant  

· Far vision: Moderate  

· Color discrimination: Significant for those working with the electrical assemblies  

· Hearing sensitivity: Minimal  

  

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Eye protection, safety shoes, protective clothing and ear plugs.  

 EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM JOB: Hand tools, power tools, belt sander, forklift, bridge crane, overhead hoist, steel sawhorse, hand truck, brooms.
