Job Summary

Required to perform clinical laboratory testing to keep the department functioning smoothly. Perform duties to included, but not limited to: report generating. Will run complex instrumentation requiring advanced specialized training. Utilizes knowledge of scientific process for molecular extraction and amplification of nucleic acids. Comprehends numeric concepts and perform numeric calculations. Work with self-discipline, good judgment, and considerable independence while following established standards of practice. Overall will demonstrate technical competency and will consult with leadership when necessary. Recognize responsibilities of other laboratory and health care personnel and interact with respect for their jobs and patient care. Provide leadership in the education and training of new employees, students, other health care professionals, and the public.
Required to performs clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Ensures all medical laboratory safety standards and quality requirements are met. Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel. Must utilize critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Scheduled work hours will vary based on the needs of the department or at the discretion of the supervisor. Employees are required to take call hours based on the needs/requirements of the department.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related scientific field required.
