Position Information

Core work hours are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, rotating weekends and occasional evenings. Hours may be adjusted based on the needs of the department.

Is directly accountable and responsible to the Food Service Operations Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Responsible for providing office support to the Food Service Operations Supervisor and back up to department staff at Mystic Marketplace.
  2. Responsible for overseeing campus meal plans.

Position Description & Details

Provides office support for Food Service - 60%
  1. Performs day-to-day upkeep of Micros point of sale register software; adjusts menu item prices, categorizes menu items, interacts with student finance by providing financial and deposit reports, etc.
  2. Monitors the Food Service website, social media (Facebook) and online menus; maintains the digital menu boards with any needed information and changes.
  3. Monitors food service email and telephone main line to ensure questions are answered, catering requests are sent to catering staff and sick trays are filled in a timely manner.
  4. Oversees the daily deposit and ensures there is adequate cash and change on hand at all times.
  5. Reviews and sets up for payment of MasterCard, SYSCO and Food Services of America and all other vendor RFP's.
  6. Coordinates and contributes to the collection of data for annual and periodic reports and other essential Food Service needs (Contract Meal Reports, Daily Cash Reports, HAACP reports etc.).
  7. Analyzes operating practices to create procedures manual (machine operations and maintenance, open/close procedures, etc.).
  8. Maintains the communication station with payroll forms.
  9. Works with the Food Service Operations Supervisor and College Relations for marketing initiatives.
  10. Reviews and posts necessary information (i.e. email, flyers, etc.) and correspondence for food service employees.
  11. Assists the supervisor in ensuring required training, appropriate forms, policy/procedure changes, etc. are communicated and completed if needed with the department staff.
  12. Reviews operating practices to create new systems or revise established procedures.
  13. Creates meal plan flyers, enters and deletes meal plans as needed, and sends meal refund information to Student Finance as stated in Dining Plan contract

Assists with the operation of Food Service - 20%
  1. Monitors the Mystic Marketplace equipment for repairs and cleaning.
  2. Assists in the Mystic Marketplace as needed during lunch and rush times.
  3. Assists with inventory.
  4. Ensures all sanitation, safety and security rules are being followed and maintained.

Miscellaneous duties- 5%
  1. Supports innovation, creativity and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc. in the department and as a whole for the college.
  2. Performs any other duties as required or assigned.

Work may include lifting 50 pounds or more and exposure to hazards, which could result in physical injury.

Status: Full-time (100%), Nonexempt

Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate associate degree and two years of related office experience or six years of directly related office experience.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good working knowledge of office procedures.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills in communicating and working with students, employees and the public.
  • Must observe established health and safety requirements of a food service operation.
  • Excellent computer software skills (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel etc., email and electronic calendar), strong internet familiarity and excellent keyboarding skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with food service point-of-sale register system or database experience.
  • Working knowledge of the methods of cooking and preparing foods, and knowledge of health and safety requirements of a food service.
