Job Details

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Insures the cleanliness of the dining room by cleaning and sanitizing tables during service times.
  • Remove food and other debris from the floor, may require the use of a vacuum cleaner, hoky sweeper, or broom
  • Keeps all serving areas clean and presentable.
  • Directs assigned staff in the orderliness and cleanliness of the lines.
  • Follows proper handling and storage procedures in the serving and holding of food.
  • Audits hot and cold food temperatures.
  • Sees that there are adequate supplies of clean dishes, silverware, glasses and serving utensils.
  • Prepares sample plate of correct serving sizes.
  • Reviews the set-up of condiments, beverages, breads and chips and replenishes these bars.
  • Prepares sample plate of correct serving sizes as assigned.
  • Checks appearance of food and garnishes for presentation.
  • Answers student’s questions regarding Dining Services’ offerings, policies and procedures.
  • Instructs servers on portion sizes and proper method of serving.
  • Follows all policies and procedures regarding special diets
  • Assigns part-time staff and students to their specific positions and responsibilities.
  • Instruct severs on the portion sizes and proper method of serving.
  • Works catered events (wing parties, coffee hours, luncheons, dinners and receptions).
  • Packs food and supplies and sets up functions.
  • Transports food, supplies and equipment to and from events, serves events and cleans up after functions.
  • Assists with Concept production as assigned
  • Maintains predetermined food costs with minimal waste controls and secures inventory.
  • Works with management to receive and properly store products.
  • Follows Dining Services cash handling procedures, completes all required paperwork related to cash handling.
  • Work towards departmental goals.
  • Coordinates with production staff to ensure all operational needs are met. Does limited production as needed.
  • Work with the preparation and disposal of fish, poultry, beef, lamb, pork and other meat products
  • Maintains a working knowledge and adheres to all safety and sanitation policies which includes removal of all jewelry and piercings ( plain wedding band is permissible) and wearing hair and beard restraints
  • Maintains clean sanitized work environment
  • Requires the ability to stand 3-4 hours at a time
  • Requires the ability to safely move 45-50 pounds
  • Requires strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

  • Requires the ability to do basic math

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Requires High School diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of Criminal History Records Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of large-scale food service experience including both service or production.
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Valid Driver's License
