Job Information

The objective of this position is to ensure products and components perform to specifications and standards. Responsible for coordinating and conducting measurements to complete evaluations and communication of results.  

Role & Responsibility

Quality Measurements
•    Coordinate metrology and metallurgical activities, complete inspections, and communicate results of inspections and process. Recommend design and manufacturing methods for quality improvements.
•    Able to select appropriate measurement tools and proficiently use measurement tools and technologies to validate that parts and components comply to specifications.
•    Understand prints, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) best practices, applying basic inspection concepts, techniques, and processes to accurately perform measurements.  
•    Able to accurately program, calibrate, maintain and operate measurement equipment, providing basic training and instruction to others in department.   
Inspection Execution
•    Work with quality engineering, design and manufacturing engineering to determine if product or component meets specifications. Provide summarized results and document findings.  
•    Investigate non-compliant results and recommend modifications to parts or processes which assure compliance.
•    Understand statistical terminology and be able to collect data for statistical techniques.  Apply findings to develop control charts, process capability, and specification limits.
•    Define quality concepts and quality processes, including Six Sigma basics such as design of experiments (DoE) and cost of quality. Must be able to apply quality tools, including continuous improvement techniques, problem solving, and lean concepts.
•    Perform work cleanly, safely and with organization, demonstrating care for equipment, facilities and co-workers.  Audit work areas and document compliance of cleanliness standards.   
Quality Analytics
•    Lead team reviews of quality measurement data and provide results of completed measurements.
•    Lead projects that drive resolution to assigned quality issues.
•    Develop quality and process standards to meet performance requirements.  Establish policies that maintain integrity of these standards.
•    Understand manufacturing processes and their impact to part or component quality.  Investigate manufacturing problems and make recommendations to resolve and/or correct such problems.
•    Be aware of trends and developments in product design and manufacturing processes that can be used to impact quality and cost. Participate in the planning and application of these trends and developments.
•    Complete Measurement Systems Analysis and procure and implement new metrology and metallurgical equipment.  
•    Complete and develop capabilities of subordinates
 

Job Requirement

  • 4 yr degree preferred, or Technical Degree & relevant experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Excel
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Ability to read part/assembly prints or drawings
  • Metrology competence
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to follow written instructions

What skills, education, and experiences does your ideal candidate(s) have?

•Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
•These are entry level opportunities
•Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly. Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements. Must possess the ability to read build sheets and blueprints.
•The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or GED is required.
•Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training. General instructions are given on recurring duties, operations and assignments; detailed instructions are given on new duties, operations and assignments.
