General Summary:

This position is responsible for underwriting residential mortgage loans to ensure compliance with secondary market, independent investors, mortgage insurance companies, regulatory and internal bank requirements. Responsibilities include a detailed examination of the loan documents, credit profile, asset/income profile, and appraisal and compliance documents. This position will utilize the appropriate automated underwriting engines as well as review in-house loan submissions. This position will communicate and work closely with Mortgage Processors, Mortgage Advisors and closers as well as other internal/external clients.

Responsibilities:

??? Analyzing credit, income, asset and property profiles

??? Ensuring all underwritten loans are saleable or qualify for delivery to the intended investor

??? Calculating income, debt-to-income ratios and loan-to-value to ensure results meet appropriate lender guidelines

??? Analyzing and completing the In-House Loan Exception form for all loans intended for bank in-house portfolio

??? Utilizing available reports to prioritize work ensuring purchases, imminent closings and loans with expiring lock commitments are addressed first

??? Reviewing closing packages and ensure accuracy of documents for Mortgage Processors when loan volume dictates need

??? High school diploma/GED required. Post-secondary education in related field preferred

??? 3-5 years' experience in Underwriting or related work

??? Computer proficiency and financial software experience required

??? Basic math skills, knowledge of underwriting, and compliance regulations required

??? Strong attention to detail with solid organizational and time management skills to be able to work independently and handle multiple priorities under pressure of time constraints required

??? Ability to identify problems and develop procedures to resolve or correct situations required

??? Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills required
