Description

The purpose of the position is to coordinate the grant activities of the Small Rural Hospital Improvement Grant Program (SHIP), develop a structure for a Rural Health Clinic Network, and participate in the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program (Flex), and related projects. This position will The position is involved in representing community development perspectives that support rural health efforts and serves as an expert on clinic and hospital quality improvement. This program exists within the Center for Rural Health, under the State Office of Rural Health grant program division.

Departmental Information

The Center for Rural Health connects resources and knowledge to strengthen the health of people in rural communities. For 40 years, we have worked with the public and private sectors expanding a circle of partners to develop creative solutions to critical health issues. The Center is located at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks. Our approach is multi-disciplinary, as we create solutions to complex challenges. The Center for Rural Health works with communities, healthcare organizations, healthcare providers, policymakers, researchers, tribal nations, and rural health stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage projects related to rural hospitals and rural health clinics.

  • Function as content specialist in rural health care subject matter.

  • Participate in professional activities.

May consider work location other than Grand Forks, North Dakota, if advantageous to the activities of the grant program.

Required Competencies

  • Knowledge of quality improvement planning and evaluation related to rural health in the State of North Dakota.

  • Knowledge of rural health, hospital, and clinic dynamics in the state of North Dakota.

  • Knowledge of evidenced based protocols.

  • Ability to connect resources, empower interested persons or organizations, and take on leadership roles.

  • Ability to accurately type, proof, edit, and format reports and manuscripts, create agendas, record minutes.

  • Knowledge of UND policy and procedure.

  • Customer service skills.

  • Strong computer aptitude.

  • Skills and ability using the internet and search engines.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to be self-directed.

  • High level of attention-to-detail and the ability to generate timely work products.

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, take initiative, and to collaborate effectively as part of a team.

  • Must be able to travel to national, regional, or local events/meetings.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in a health-related field (i.e. nursing, health information, health administration) Will consider other fields of study with relevant work experience.

  • Five years’ experience in a rural health care organization.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Experience using videoconferencing platforms such as Zoom, WebEx (or similar).

  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nursing degree.

  • Experience with healthcare quality and performance improvement activities.

  • Experience working in clinic tertiary and small rural hospital.

  • Experience working with healthcare systems, organizations, and in community outreach.

  • Experience organizing and tracking programmatic information and writing programmatic reports.

  • Experience working with diverse groups of people.

  • Experience facilitating meetings and presenting.

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$50,000/year (salary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience). Full-time, Benefitted, Exempt. This position is grant-funded.

Work Schedule/Start Date

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Requires occasional work outside of standard hours due to business travel or events.

Benefits
