Job Responsibilities
  • Plans and organizes work with and for department; exercises sound judgment and decision-making
  • Ensures quality performance, conformance with regulation, standards, and laws, and customer satisfaction; assists and participates in the QA/CQI process.
  • Keeps abreast of and implements new programs or practices
  • Assesses residents needs and develops plans for programming that meets identified needs
  • Leads or assists with conducting programming
  • Accommodates residents' needs through responding appropriately to resident's verbal/nonverbal expressions of need.

Qualifications
  • BA/BS required
  • Prior work experience in long term care is preferred to be hired for this job; other pertinent experience includes hospital setting, prison, schools, hospice, day care, group home, residential care facilities, or psychiatric settings
  • Eligible for certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or as an Activities Professional by a recognized accrediting body or ability to satisfactorily complete an accredited training program approved by the state in which the facility is located is preferred; training in communication with Dementia, Huntington's Disease, visually and hearing impaired individuals as well as aphasic individuals is preferred.
  • Ability and desire to be creative and ability to adapt programs and supplies to meet individual resident needs.
