The VP of Marketing & Communications will be responsible for improvement of the Credit Unions competitive position, consistent with its mission, within the markets served; develop objectives, policies and programs for marketing and public relations activities of the Credit Union; plan, direct, and coordinate the efforts of marketing and sales toward the accomplishment of overall objectives; supply advice and assistance to the President and other operating units within the organization.

The VP of Marketing & Communications is a member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for implementation of the Strategic Plan and fulfillment of North Star's Mission of improving the financial lives of our membership by providing financial solutions, one member at a time and will work closely with all areas of the Credit Union providing Leadership, Innovation, and Long Term Vision while focusing on removing barriers to a world class member experience.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Directs all advertising and sales promotions for products and services; develops advertising programs and collateral materials.Oversees and understands advertising compliance.

Directs marketing and sales planning, including an analysis of competitive products/services and selling techniques, compliance, budgets, pricing and distribution.

Communicates marketing initiatives to staff and ensures the entire NSCCU team and contact center are well versed in credit union products, promotions, and marketing initiatives.

Oversees the marketing department: hires, reviews, schedules, trains, directs, and monitors the work of direct reports; conducts performance reviews; allocates resources to meet operational needs within the department; reviews and approves, denies, or modifies department recommendations for subordinates.

Develops, proposes, gains acceptance for, and implements strategic plans designed to meet the credit unions short- and long-term marketing objectives.

Conducts market research and recommends and communicates product/service modifications or improvements.

Coordinates communications and announcements such as news releases, newsletters, staff promotions, events, closings, etc., fostering relationships with the media.

Coordinates special events; monitors planning, schedules and implementation as required for proper execution of each event.

Coordinates the annual meeting, including production of reports, facilities, and meeting logistics.

Increase awareness of the credit union by managing the credit unions community involvement program. The community involvement program includes the delivery and development of financial education presentations, community outreach, and the management of community sponsorship requests.

Manages member complaint/grievance response activity.

Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:
1. Consistently follows The North Star Way Service Competencies
2. Manage and continuously develop the credit unions internal marketing communications system to deepen member relationships, generating loan, deposit, and member demand, while promoting digital services adoption and use as demonstrated by analytical reports and tracking of efforts.
3. To provide direction and recommendations to management, based on current research data, regarding market strategies and directions the Credit Union should take.
4. To provide informed, professional and accurate service and support to all members and associates.
5. To complete marketing and research projects as outlined in the operation plan for the year; To deliver planned results within budget.
6. To accomplish all assigned projects according to policy and procedures, keeping management informed of any critical areas.
7. To achieve community involvement goals and incorporate branding strategy into all projects.
8. Maintains current, targeted marketing initiatives across all adopted marketing services channels, such as digital signage, statement & receipt messages, and social media.
9. Achieves business plan targets through the execution of appropriate external marketing initiatives.
10. Maintains staff awareness/knowledge of marketing services and initiatives in place through appropriate communications and training.
11. Complies with NSCCUs marketing policies, and deliver marketing services in compliance with applicable state and federal rules and regulations.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience - Five years to ten years of similar or related experience.
Education - A college degree.
Interpersonal Skills - The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.
Other Skills - Creative writing and knowledge of target marketing required. Must possess organizational and analytical skills; must be able to coordinate a variety of projects.
