Description

Case investigation and contact tracing is the process of working with a person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 to identify and provide support to persons who may have been infected through close contact with the positive case. This process is a core disease control measure and key strategy for preventing the spread of COVID-19. The Contact Tracer position focuses on activities involving people who may have been exposed to the virus, through close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Initiate prompt communication with people exposed to COVID-19 (contacts) through text, phone calls, email, and other communication platforms as necessary.
  • Employ dynamic communication and interpersonal skills, cultural competency/sensitivity, tactful language, and empathetic interviewing skills to build rapport and maintain trust with patients of varied backgrounds.
  • Obtain and document relevant information per NDDoH protocol, including contact demographics, underlying medical conditions, and other risk factors.
  • Provide information and guidance on quarantine procedures and what to do if symptoms develop. Coordinate referrals for testing, healthcare, and other supportive services as needed.
  • Utilize required applications, databases, etc. as determined by NDDoH.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with a team of public health professionals to efficiently complete contact notification and monitoring assignments. Inform the team and supervisor when attempts to communicate with a contact are unsuccessful. Elevate complex situations to supervisor for further guidance.
  • Participate in trainings, program meeting and activities to ensure and enhance the quality of contact notification activities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure that all information is collected in concordance with privacy and confidentiality standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and emotional intelligence.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to use sound judgment in responding to client issues and concerns.
  • Strong time management skills (organization, prioritization, multitasking).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in a health related field
  • Experience with computers and mobile devices
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a health related field or equivalent work experience in the medical field

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$20.00+/hour, temporary, part-time, non-benefitted, non-exempt employee

Work Schedule/Start Date

  • Remote position, shift varies based on level of need as determined by UND and may include days, evenings, and weekends
  • Weekend availability once per month
  • Shifts run seven days a week, 9:00 am - noon, noon - 3:00 pm, 3:00 - 6:00 pm, and 6:00 - 9:00 pm
