Job Summary

Manages patient transporting services. Ensure transporting services for patients, specimens, medications, equipment and other miscellaneous items is conducted in a safe manner following pre-established patient safety guidelines. Ensures adequate supply of equipment such as telemetry, wheelchairs, beds and stretchers is available through tracking, movement and transportation within facilities and to other facilities as needed. Coordinates movement of equipment between facilities with facility staff and couriers. Evaluates patient transport services and identifies opportunities to improve services and productivity. Maintains positive relationships with nursing and ancillary departments. Represents team at applicable local and enterprise meetings.
Transporting patients to and from their inpatient beds and other areas such as therapy, surgery, radiology with the use of wheelchairs, stretchers, or moveable beds. Conducting the maintenance procedures for transportation tools and devices. Retrieving medical records, prescriptions, and other clinical documentation for patients as requested. Complying with organizational guidelines and policies of health, safety, and security while offering transportation services.
Assists in the collection and preparation of required budget information. Identifies administrative, technical and financial matters related to department. Implements the steps of the performance management process (e.g., performance planning, coaching feedback and appraisal). Participates in meetings regarding relevant regulatory considerations and agencies. Promotes and ensures patient satisfaction while complying with safety and regulatory requirements.
Provides leadership and decision support for patient transport services to ensure efficient work flow. Leads by example when demonstrating bedside manner. Knows the importance of listening with the ability to clarify and apply good communication skills building strong relationships. Must have strong computer, organizational and planning skills. Desire to expand knowledge of organization structure/layout. Awareness of proper body mechanics is helpful in providing patient and customer service. Knowledge of infection control procedures.

Qualifications

Associate degree required.
Minimum of one year experience required.
Registered with the North Dakota Department of Health as a Certified Nursing Aide is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six weeks of employment, recertification as required.
