Job Responsibilities
  • This position provides mentorship, guidance and support to new and existing staff to assure they meet the high standards of care and complete tasks while developing relationships, providing quality customer service and meeting the needs of our residents in a caring, safe and efficient manner; and is responsible to perform according to location standards, procedures and individualized care plans
  • Explains all procedures before and during cares; promotes highest level of self-care; includes bathing, grooming, dressing / undressing, vital signs and other personal cares
  • Appropriately documents all cares and behaviors
  • Receives and shares information; attends or obtains resident report prior to providing care; observes and reports residents' conditions to appropriate staff
  • Assists with admissions and discharge procedures
  • Promotes optimal nutrition and hydration, encourages highest level of self-care
  • Helps residents with meals and in meeting dietary needs
  • Assists residents with ordered diets and fluids, strives to ensure a positive dining experience; meets overall nutrition needs

Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program, the GSS Advanced CNA skills course or the GSS Mentor training program curriculum required
  • Prior certified nursing assistant work experience is required to be hired into this job
  • Ability to develop interpersonal relationships, foster teamwork and assist staff with cultural and social integration
  • Skill in adult learning styles techniques and incorporation of experience into learning
  • Ability to be a role model and support to staff
  • Developed advanced CNA skills through overview and completion of the Advanced CNA skills course, including education on Culture of caring, organizing work, residents rights and protections, person-centered skills, restorative cares, infection control and other selected clinical cares including vision and hearing, nutrition, hydration, swallowing and oral care, skin care, aging and special conditions and end of life care
