News Director

Our family owned independent company is looking for a full time news director to help us build a news office.  This is not an entry level position and accordingly, our company is willing to pay a strong salary and benefits package.  We are committed to a solid radio/digital/social media presence and the ideal candidate will have 2+ years of news experience and be familiar with all aspects of news, including, but not limited to, setting up coverage plans, working beats, interviewing, writing stories for radio and website, ENG, editing, hosting live and breaking coverage and special programs like town halls and election nights. 

The selected candidate will help us establish a strong news process and product, will be counted on to dig for leads and break stories on a regular basis, and will understand that news is not limited to police logs or scanner traffic.  Our company is a friend to the business community and many of our best stories come from companies who are growing. 

This position is not for someone who watches the clock.  Our company has a growing and energetic DNA and places a value on enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment.  We are an innovative station posting content frequently to our website and social media properties and the selected candidate will be tasked with stocking those shelves. 

There is a possibility that this could be a home office position in our community.
