Strategic Planning Engineer
Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering along with five years of industry experience with knowledge of transmission system studies. Experience is required in using various analytical software tools to evaluate transmission system performance, such as, but not necessarily PSS/E, TSAT and PROMOD. Applicant must have knowledge of regional tariffs, business practice manuals and study procedures. Excellent communication and technical writing skills are required with proficiency in a variety of Microsoft Office products.
The Strategic Planning Engineer will focus on transmission planning activities that support securing value-added investments for Otter Tail Power Company. This role will be responsible to formulate and perform planning studies with a focus on economics and congestion to gain knowledge needed to engage and influence planning activities sponsored by the regional transmission organizations (RTOs) and neighboring utilities.
The Strategic Planning Engineer is expected to interface directly with senior management to share results from targeted studies to be used to develop and execute on long-term strategies for the company. This role will also interact with a variety of other internal and external stakeholders to influence outcomes consistent with Otter Tail Power Company’s initiatives. In addition, this role will support development of future projects through regulatory processes to ensure full and timely recovery of investments.
