Job Summary

Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborates with other departments across the enterprise. Demonstrates critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Sanford Health would love to help you achieve your career goals as a Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist. The MLT/MLS Sponsorship is financial assistance to support tuition and other expenses while you progress through your schools MLT/MLS program. Upon graduation, Sanford and the sponsored student will partner for a full time employment commitment at Sanford Health as a MLT/MLS in Bismarck for three years. Current students are eligible to apply. This sponsorship can be used in conjunction with other financial aid.
Qualifications:
• Must be enrolled in a MLT/MLS program.
• Commit to working 3 years full-time as a MLT/MLS with Sanford Health after graduation.
• Must maintain a GPA that meets program requirements and show forward progression through the program of study. (Grades must be submitted on a semester basis.)
• Must sign a contract before payments are processed.
• Must commit to participating in Sanford Check-Ins (email, phone, or in person) during program of study.
Application is open November 16th, 2020 - February 19th, 2021. When completing your application, please include the following:
• An essay on why your role as a MLT/MLS will help Sanford Health and the future of healthcare. (Max 500 words.)
• Two letters of Recommendation - One from a Program Director and one from a faculty member that teaches a course pertinent to your degree.
• Current proof of unofficial transcripts including GPA.

Qualifications

MLT: Associates degree in Laboratory Science required. Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

MLS: Bachelor’s degree in laboratory or biological sciences required. Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
