Large Animal Technician

Description:

This is an opportunity to work in a research environment and care for large animals. This is a great opportunity to start a career in research.

Candidates day will consist of:
Washing out kennels and cages twice per day
Feeding animals twice a day
Sanitizing kennel areas daily
Refilling food and supplies in the facility when necessary
Receiving new animals and putting them in kennels when new batches of animals arrive
Doing laundry for the facility when necessary
Document all of their activities in log books - date, time and initials

Must Haves:
High school diploma or GED
6 months of experience working with animals - horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep
Attention to detail

** They need to have experience caring for a pet in the past - larger animals preferably. The more animal experience (large) the better! They also have to be comfortable handling all sized animals.

Preferred Qualifications:
Education - Preferred Bachelors Degree:
- Zoology
- Animal Science
- Dairy Science
- Biology
** Course work dealing with animals

Soft Skills:
Attention to detail
Positive attitude
Strong communication skills - written and verbal
