Position Description & Details:

Assistant Athletic Trainer

(Full-time, 12 month position beginning December 2020)

The primary sport team will be football with other team/sport coverage to be determined. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Intercollegiate athletics team coverage and travel with assigned team(s).
  • Supervision of graduate assistant athletic trainers and athletic training students in an accredited graduate entry-level athletic training curriculum.
  • Summer sports camps and summer workout coverage.
  • Assist with the administration of inventory, maintenance of equipment, yearly budget, equipment and supplies purchasing, insurance claims, and supervision of daily operations of the athletic training rooms.
  • Compliance with all rules and regulations of North Dakota State University, the NCAA, Summit League, Missouri Valley Football Conference, and the Big XII Conference.
  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate injuries/conditions of all student-athletes; refer injuries to team physicians and specialists when necessary and carry out prescribed treatment plans and rehabilitation protocols as directed by team physicians and/or other medical specialists.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in athletic training or related field.
  • NATA-BOC Certified Athletic Trainer.
  • Two years of direct athletic training experience with NDSU football.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for athletic training students and their ability to succeed clinically.
  • Demonstrated record of professionalism.
  • Evidence of ability to interact positively with athletic training students, student athletes, colleagues and the public.
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Evidence of compatibility with the philosophy of intercollegiate athletics at North Dakota State University.
  • Eligible for North Dakota Licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Entry Level Master's degree from an accredited athletic training curriculum .
  • Previous clinical preceptor experience.
  • Graston Technique training and/or certification
