Position Information

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Is directly accountable and responsible to the TrainND Manager - Business Learning and Performance Consultative Sales.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Responsible for overseeing and teaching the CDL courses, which include theory instruction, the CDL simulators and ride-along with the student(s) driving a tractor trailer.
  2. Responsible for helping students schedule testing dates with NDDOT.
  3. Responsible for coordinating the maintenance and repair of BSC CDL tractor and trailer with the approval of TrainND manager.

DUTIES:

General CDL support duties - 90%
  1. Responsible for driving with the CE CDL students in the tractor trailer.
  2. Responsible for the driving simulator training for the CE CDL students.
  3. Provides instruction to prepare students for the North Dakota Department of Transportation (DOT) Class A test, pre-trip inspection and road test.
  4. Ensures the trucks are safe, clean and well-maintained.
  5. Demonstrates behind the wheel techniques, driving skills and rides with students for behind the wheel training.
  6. Ensures safety procedures are followed at all times.
  7. Reports student issues to the Training Manager by following proper procedures (i.e. student conduct concerns, etc.)

Miscellaneous duties - 10%
  1. Supports innovation, creativity and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc. in the department and as a whole for the college.
  2. Provide other training for industry classes based on demand and instructor expertise.
  3. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Sub Band: 4400 - Educational Services Technical/Paraprofessional

Family: 4405 - Educational Services Technical/Paraprofessional

Term: 12 months

Status: Full-time Regular (100%), Nonexempt

Required Competencies

  1. Requires appropriate associate degree or four years of related experience.
  2. Valid Class A commercial driver license (CDL).
  3. Knowledge of state and federal CDL regulations.
  4. Excellent organizational skills and work ethic.
  5. Good interpersonal skills and common courtesy with students, employees and the public.
  6. Good working knowledge of computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Office, e-mail - Outlook, electronic calendar - Oracle, etc.).


Preferred Qualifications

  1. Class A driving experience.
  2. Prior teaching and/or training experience.
