Position Information

Position Description & Details:

This individual will help install new and maintain 150+ North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network (NDAWN) weather monitoring sites across the state of North Dakota and its neighboring states (in close proximity to its borders)


• Assist with routine station maintenance and trouble shoot sensors and electronic equipment as needed
• Assist with installation and relocation of weather stations
• Program Campbell Scientific data loggers (CR1000X and CR1000) for routine data collection and storage
• Upgrade equipment and sensors
• Perform on-site/laboratory calibrations of sensors
• Assist the public with NDAWN related questions and data requests
• Assist with NDAWN public awareness
• Assist fellow NDAWN staff with special projects
• Maintain and update timely metadata to document sensor problems and site maintenance

Work Schedule:

Primarily Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Advertised Salary: Commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Meteorology, Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent education in Physical Science
• Exposure to writing reports or documentation
• Exposure to Microsoft Word and Excel software
• Effective oral and written communication skill
• Ability to work outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditions
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (45 pounds and over)
• Ability to climb ladders to reach sensors on tripod
• Ability to work unsupervised in the field
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:
• 1 year of experience in similar field
• Experience in either the Agricultural or Climate industry
• Proficient in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Exposure to the following:
• Data analysis
• Experience in electronics/computer repair
• Writing climate/Weather related reports
