Engineer II Sustaining R&D- Electrophysiology Minnetonka, MN

What you will do:
As a Sustaining R&D Engineer II at our Minnetonka, MN location, you will be part of our Electrophysiology (EP) Catheter team focused on providing R&D support a wide range of market-released diagnostic, imaging, and ablation therapy catheters. This role will involve a range of responsibilities including but not limited to failure analysis, design changes, requirement development, testing and data analysis, and test method development and validation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provides R&D support for market-released cardiovascular catheters
Conducts feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality to support investigations and/or design changes
Develops solutions to improve product function and manufacturability
Directs support personnel and coordinates project activities
Write and submit Engineering Change orders
Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of a project
Investigates and evaluates design changes, manufacturing changes, NCMRs, CAPAs and/or customer complaints
Reviews or coordinates vendor activities to support development
Research various cost-effective, alternative approaches to current designs and processes
Involved in test method and fixture development
Support development of risk management documentation (DFMEA, UFMEA, PFMEA)
Gain an understanding of the quality and regulatory requirements of Abbott, FDA and ISO regulations
Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical or related Engineering degree
2+ years medical device engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to a variety of manufacturing processes used in medical devices, specifically deflectable sheaths and/or EP Catheters preferred
Worked with an electronic document control system (Windchill, etc.)
Previous academic GPA: 3.0 or higher preferred
Experience working within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
Proficient in collaborating with project stakeholders (client and internal), end-users, business partners, and technical team members
Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner
Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail
Experience working with cross-functional teams in a geographically diverse, matrixed organization
