Lead Machine Operator

We are currently seeking a Lead Machine Operator on days and overnight shifts to join our production team in Cannon Falls, MN.

Pay up to $35.44 per hour with excellent benefits! Work short weeks and 12 hour shifts. 5am-5pm M-W and every other Thursday. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership experience and skill with strong technical/mechanical aptitude.

Purpose Statement: Acts as a resource for assigned departments/areas by providing employee support, work direction, training, recruiting support and employee development opportunities for all reports. Acts as back up in highly technical and maintenance areas of the plant or area of responsibility.

* Reviews and coordinates daily production requirements including; safety, quality, delivery and cost with supervisor. Leads team to ensure daily requirements are completed to deliver an outstanding product to Gemini customers.

* Coordinates staffing and scheduling for assigned department(s). Assists in determining need for overtime. Schedules vacations for employees.

* Completes a variety of production records and reports as may be required of the department.

* Develops and supports our culture of trust, respect and empowerment in all employees.

* Provides leadership to personnel to effectively utilize the talents, experience and training of department resources.

* Trains new employees and works with them to develop skills and job proficiency. Trains employees on approved standard procedures

* Champions' Lean improvements through the building. Fosters a department culture to empower and engage team mates to make improvements to areas as needed. May work with outside vendors and attend trainings and trade shows to increase knowledge.

* Observes and evaluates work performed by employees to ensure that individual and team work performance is acceptable by standards set by the company. Coaches employees on strengths and areas for improvements. Assists employees with development areas.

* Assists in the appraisal of performance of department personnel and may make recommendations to ensure that each employee is properly compensated for work performed in accordance with established policy.

* Works with sales and customers to ensure customer satisfaction.

* Works on professional development with supervisor to continue to grow and learn.

* May perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities
* Proven leadership, coaching, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills

* Exceptional communication skills

* Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

* Qualified and skilled to fill in or back up in areas of responsibility requiring additional ability and knowledge relating to maintenance, repair and installation of plant equipment

* Technical understanding of processes in the scope of the lead position

* Openness to flexibility within departments and buildings to meet the company's needs

Qualifications - Education & Experience
* High school diploma or GED

* Supervisory experience preferred

* Knowledge and understanding of LEAN manufacturing

* Ability to influence and adapt to continuous improvement driven change

* 2+ years of production experience in CNC or plastics
