Job Summary

Comments The Health Information Management (HIM) Technician is responsible for analyzing electronic health records, ensuring all data elements are included in the documentation set forth by the Medical Staff Rules and By-Laws. The Technician complies, maintains and electronically scans all documentation related to the deliver of care of patients.

Essential Job Functions

Answers telephone calls and routes when appropriate. Monitors messages and incoming faxes. Opens and distributes mail.

Ensures that personal health information and business information are available only to authorized clinicians and used only for authorized purposes.

Monitors the Pneumatic Tube System and lifts for all incoming inpatient documentation to the HIM department to be processed, prepped, sorter, indexed and scanned in according to the specific document tube and description set forth buy the scanning policy and procedure guidelines.

Reports malfunction of telephone system to Administration or designee.

Ensures a complete and accurate health record by working closely within all operational areas of HIM using knowledge of all HIM workstations, all relevant hospital systems, interfaces and work flows to analyze, correct and make suggestion for enhancement and improvement of processes within the department and Epic.

Other Duties

Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Experience

A minimum of 1 year of related experience Preferred
