Professional Business Analyst - Aberdeen, SD

What You'll Do

Gather business requirements, analyze and evaluate business needs, requirements, data, processes and systems for complex technology projects.
Recommend project scope, facilitate and participate in application design sessions, propose and develop system solutions.
Prepare time estimates for completing projects and assists in overall project scope definition, management and project tracking.
Write detailed functional and technical specifications and prepare other systems and functional documentation such as flow charts, use cases and test scripts.
Represent Technology in business meetings, facilitate the development process and track project status.
Assist with unit testing prior to turn over to Model Office/Quality Assurance department.
Coordinate and participate in the Quality Assurance/testing process; work with Quality Assurance analysts and programmers to analyze data and coordinate problem resolution.
Coordinate, communicate and verify implementation delivery; troubleshoot production problems; provides consultative support to business units, acts as liaison between business areas and Technology, keep all parties informed of status, and coordinate problem resolution.
Solve complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions; work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations; may lead functional teams or projects.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in computer science, or equivalent experience
10+ years business administration and/or systems analysis experience in a Financial Services application development environment (Annuity and/or Life Insurance preferred)
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms; solid teamwork and interpersonal skills
Understanding of structured development methodologies a plus; knowledge of related Mainframe DXC contract administration systems preferred (Vantage, wmA, DSS)
Knowledge of the Life & Annuities lines of business
Experience with Agile software development (Product Owner and SCRUM Master certification a plus)
