Job Description
The candidate will work in the Process Analytics (PA) function of PTD and partner with scientists and engineers across PTD development areas and Global Manufacturing Technical Operations (GMTO) to identify, prioritize, and develop innovative process analytical technologies (PAT) solutions within each of Biogens four therapeutic modalities: Antisense Oligonucleotides, Gene Therapy, Pharmaceuticals, and Proteins. Responsibilities include evaluation of existing and emerging PAT, design and realization of laboratory/pilot scale/large scale-based implementations of process monitoring advances, and strong partnership with manufacturing stakeholders to ensure the development and eventual commercialization of fit-for-purpose technologies. In addition, the candidate will present findings at conferences, in scientific publications, and enable industry-wide adaptation of technological advances.

Accountable for PAT installations across the product lifecycle including instrument selection, procurement, interfacing with processing equipment and automation systems, maintenance, and application optimization
Develops new in-line, on-line, and at-line analytical methods
Works with stakeholders to refine business process for PAT from development to tech transfer
Works with cross-functional teams to provide deeper understanding of properties/process/product performance relationships using appropriate PAT tools and models
Advances multivariate data/statistical analysis for method development, investigation/troubleshooting, and product quality control strategy
Responsible for curating critical knowledge and developing best practice related to PAT
Trains relevant stakeholders on PAT tools and modeling approaches
Authors, reviews, and approves documentation
Manages relationships with technology vendors and academic partners
Qualifications

Post-doctoral or industry experience in PAT development and commercialization
Deep knowledge of spectroscopic or separation techniques
Strong communication skills are a must as this position will require influencing a team that includes organic chemists, biochemists, molecular biologists, chemical engineers, and mechanical engineers.
Education:

B.S.(+8-10 years), M.S.(+6-8 years), or PhD (+2-5 years) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, or Sciences
