You will be the first Director of Product in this group, partnering with the strong engineering leads from each of these teams to deliver the future of our toolset that powers our nearly $1B (and growing fast) suite of products. Our internal customers expect reliable, effective, and user friendly tools to help do their job each day. You and your team will obsess over the developer experience inside of Zendesk. As our workforce continues to grow in an increasingly distributed manner, you will be responsible for helping deliver tools that engineers love, driving efficiency and productivity for our product teams around the globe.

What you get to do every day:

Work with engineering counterparts to drive Zendesk's Tools & Engineering Productivity vision, and work closely with engineering and product leadership to set goals and landmarks to achieve that vision.

Manage a team of Product Managers, providing mentorship and career development for a small team of PMs already in place, while growing the team over time.

Collaborate with internal feature development teams to understand their challenges and problems; obsess about making engineers at Zendesk more productive.

Drive priority planning within the Tools & Engineering Productivity teams to develop and deliver upon a roadmap that aligns with customer requirements.

Develop and drive the implementation of Product Management processes within your org and contribute to the wider Product Management org within Zendesk.

Partner closely with our customer success, customer support, sales, legal, security, and compliance teams to bring a customer-focused approach to our internal tools.

What you bring to the role:

You are already an accomplished product leader at a startup or fast growing SaaS company, and are leading a team of PMs.

At least 5 years of proven experience in product management within high paced, agile software-as-a-service environments, preferably in the B2B Enterprise space; including daily interactions with software developers.

You are technical enough to empathize with Zendesk engineers, talk shop with infrastructure teams, and help set a technology vision with your engineering partners. Computer Science/Engineering background preferred.

Innately passionate about developer experience and new technologies, with a platform-first mentality; you have solid understanding of web architecture, service and API design and stay current with development trends.

Ability to set the direction and lead a large team without a lot of oversight.

Ability to lead projects autonomously.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the willingness to present and defend your ideas to other key team members, including executives and other product and engineering leaders.

Proven product leadership and the ability to make decisions without perfect information.

Ability to travel occasionally to San Francisco, CA, Melbourne, Australia and Dublin, Ireland to collaborate with other Zendesk teams.
