This position will support the Federal Governments response efforts to COVID-19.
This position is located in the Pharmacy at the Rosebud IHS Hospital. This is an outpatient facility providing comprehensive health care to eligible Native Americans. The purpose of this position is to maintain high quality pharmacy services to patients and their family. This position reports to the Pharmacy Supervisor located within the Pharmacy Department. This is a TEMPORARY NOT TO EXCEED 1YEAR.
Select, procure, prepare and dispense medications; properly interpret prescription; review patient medical record for safety, appropriateness and effectiveness of drug therapy; alert medical staff to any prescription or dosage that could be harmful to patient. Properly store and protect drugs and chemical.
Counsel patients on the use, storage, cautions and side effects of all medications dispenses. Interview patients to ascertain past medical and medication history.
Participate in facility initiatives, attends meetings, conducts authorized outpatient clinics, document clinical activities, provide pharmaceutical services to focus on therapeutic drug monitoring; analyze medical regimen.
Provide formal and informal education and in services to medical staff, pharmacy, nursing staff and patients and their families; training for pharmacy students; orientation to nurses and medical providers; collaborate with other health professional to develop treatment protocol, standards of practice and policies, participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (eg, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (eg, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
Applicants qualifications background must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary to perform the work of the position. Pharmacy work requires knowledge of the use, clinical effects, and composition of medications, including their chemical, biological, and physical properties. Qualifying professional pharmacy experience may involve, but is not limited to:
-Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects;
-Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations;
-Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facilitys pharmacy program;
-Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens;
-Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications;
-Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries; and/or
-Maintaining all medication records required by law.
GS-12: Compound prescriptions, and formulate, prepare, bulk compounding, select, dispense, and preserve drugs medicines, and chemicals. Advise on drug therapy and usage in a hospital, clinic or a facility in the pharmaceutical industry; apply quality assurance protocols to data collection for outcome results of pharmacy based clinical programs thorough a database; trend results of data collected to measure positive and negative outcome.
