Job DescriptionPOSITION: Part-time AmeriCorps - Membership Support Assistant: Caregiver Volunteer EngagementCLASSIFICATION: AmeriCorps ProgramREPORTS TO: Program managerSupervisor: Member Support DirectorPosition Type: Half time - 900 hours, 25-30 hours/weekTerm of Service: September 14, 2020- August 31, 2021Living Stipend: $396 biweeklyEducation Award: $3,097.50Position Summary:Assist in the recruitment and support of caregivers as programmatic volunteers. The focus of this position will be on engaging and supporting parent volunteers to support individually registered girls and outreach programming. Special focus will be placed on engaging and supporting parents and caregivers who can serve our underserved communities. This position will also support general programmatic aspects of the Girl Scouts Leadership Program.Schedule: To be determined at start of term of service.Essential Functions:Assist in the development of an independently focused Girl Scout experience for girls and their parents or caregivers.Recruit and support parents and caregivers of individually registered Girl Scouts,Modify Girl Scout programming so it can be implemented by parents and caregivers, outside of a troop experience.Create strategies for volunteer development and positive volunteer experience for parents and caregivers.Equip parents and caregivers to apply traditional Girl Scout program curriculum based on the Girl Scout national program portfolio and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.Train on and promote the individually registered Girl Scout program and form collaborations through regular positive interactions with current Girl Scout members and community partners.Actively support the council initiatives to better serve underserved communities.Must attend all GS member orientations, trainings and department meetings to obtain skills to ensure high quality programing and personal/professional development. Some of these will require travel or an overnight.Attend required meetings including weekly one on ones, monthly regional meeting and weekly team meetings and department meetings/trainings.Support traditional membership and recruitment efforts.Support council programmatic events as needed.Principal Service Relationships:Serve as a team with Program staff and interns to provide quality programing opportunities to girls ages 5 - 17.Collaborate with community partners to promote positive youth development.Be an active member of the regional team, supporting their goals and initiatives.Work to grow our services and supports to Latinx families.Experience and SkillsProfessional Conduct and ExpectationsAdhere to Girl Scout dress code at all times representing GSNWGL positively and professionally.Arrive on time to all internal and external meetings and early to all programs.Respond to all calls and emails within 48 hours (24hours if possible)Refrain from conversations regarding controversial issues such as politics and religion while representing Girl Scouts.Model the Girl Scout law through all interactions while representing GSNWGL.Attend and participate in required AmeriCorps trainings and meetings.Leverage; recruit, manage &/or support volunteers for community service activities.Complete and submit all AmeriCorps timesheets, reports and documents in a professional and timely manner.GSNWGL Way of WorkGSNWGL serves girls in a variety of ways through a variety of methods. Members will serve at program sites throughout our region several days a week and will serve in our office a minimum of twice a week.Members are expected to use a council vehicle for attending programs and meetings outside of the office, if a council vehicle is not available they will be reimbursed for program mileage. If they choose to use their own vehicle and a council vehicle is available, they will not be reimbursed.To serve our customer needs and be efficient in our service, all members will receive either a laptop and a headset or desktop and phone while serving with the Girl Scouts. This equipment is to be used only for council purposes; members are responsible for any lost or damaged equipment.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:High level of interpersonal communication skills.Self-motivated, able to serve independently with minimal supervision.Serves well on a team.Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook as well as the ability to learn new software quickly.Ability to basic speak Spanish is a plus.Experience Qualifications:Experience serving with diverse populations.Experience working with volunteers.Experience collaborating with community partners.Service Conditions:Must pass a background check.Must pass motor vehicle check and have a valid driver's license and your own reliable mode of transportation.Must become a registered Girl Scout.Must be able to serve occasional nights, weekends and overnights to meet programing and training needs.Job BenefitsBenefits for 2Living stipend paid every two weeks during term of service, December 10, 2020 - November 31, 2021. Payments are approximately $396 every two weeks. Final payroll is determined by member's tax status.Education award of $3097.50 is provided upon successful completion of service.Childcare assistance is available based on household income eligibility (information provided on request).
