The Director of Internal Communications is responsible for executing the global employee communications and engagement strategy for DTN. This person oversees internal communications plans for a wide range of activities designed to inform, educate and activate employees through the use of a balanced mix of channels (existing and new) to maximize the reach and consumption of key messages and content. This individual will also seek to enhance communication skills across the company and improve understanding of internal communications approaches to enable and empower employee participation in and contributions to internal dialogue.

Reporting to our CHRO, this individual will be part of the Human Resources leadership team and partner with our Senior Leadership Team to ensure a strong alignment between our internal communications efforts, our corporate culture, brand and our business journey.

The successful candidate will be a proven leader with a breadth of communications experience who is able to collaborate and co-create with a broad range of stakeholders. She or he will have a passion for driving and advancing our employee engagement efforts.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Execution:

Responsible for all internal communications, including strategy development, messaging, planning, and delivery; consulting with senior leaders on their internal communications approaches and cadence to ensure consistency and alignment across all activities.
Drives disciplined employee communication planning with an enterprise-focused, strategic orientation; ensuring a keen eye toward connecting the dots' and being thoughtful about saturation and information overload of various enterprise-wide initiatives.
Develops, distributes and drives adoption of processes that enhance the efficiency of the internal communications function and further develops the building and maintaining of employee advocates for our brand.
Defines and enhances internal messaging to reflect One DTN and the DTN brand; Regularly revisits and as necessary, refines key messages, corporate presentations, Q&A materials to ensure accuracy and alignment.
Leverages multiple channels to deliver internal communications to the global employee base (ie presentations, articles, talking points, videos, infographics, podcasts, etc.).
Promotes and drives adoption of existing digital platform to ensure efficient and scaled internal communications, reaching key audiences quickly and efficiently and supporting the One DTN unified company aspirations.
Works closely with company leadership, marketing, sales and legal on any crisis communication needs to ensure timely and consistent information is delivered to employees as needed.
Partners with External Communication and Brand as needed to ensure consistency in messaging
Implements and maintains useful metrics to inform strategic plans on how to improve, enhance or innovate future internal communications and change tactics.
Internal Events:

Manages calendar, content and production of Town Hall and large-scale team meetings.
Guides internal communications around organizational transformation, strategies, and vision for DTN all with a focus on ensuring maximum employee engagement.
Active participant in cross-business internal activities and events such as annual sales-kickoff, leadership meetings, etc.
Employee Engagement & Advocacy:

Develops messaging that is clear, compelling and consistent to drive awareness, excitement and advocacy within the employee base.
Develops internal communication plans and messaging that ensure employees understand transformational initiatives and the role they play in the success of such efforts, organizational announcements, and the company's strategic vision.
Works closely with all stakeholders to ensure messaging is consistent and content is aligned with enterprise goals, objectives, and the DTN brand.
Requirements:

8+ years progressive experience in internal communications, marketing communications, or related field.
4+ years leading and designing enterprise-wide communication initiatives.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related field.
Well-rounded internal communications generalist with global experience
Exceptional communication skills - written, oral, and interpersonal
Demonstrated project management capability
Flexible attitude in a fast-paced environment with changing opportunities and priorities
Strong judgement skills and instincts
Good business acumen; ability to interface with senior executives when needed
