Description

This position resides within the School of Medicine & Health Sciences, Department of Administration and Finance, and maintains fiscal records; examines and analyzes a variety of accounting and payroll transactions, documents, and financial statements to verify accuracy and propriety; prepares monthly and quarterly reports, deposits and invoices, and maintains controls to assure funds are obligated and expended for authorized purposes within established limits, and may perform other duties such as payroll, travel, or purchasing backup as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide financial and analytical services.
  • Serve as an expert resource and first point of contact for departments.
  • Provide departments with accurate and timely information to make decisions.
  • Develop thorough knowledge of customer operations to allow for development of value-added services specific to departmental needs.
  • Deliver helpful insights and recommendations to key contacts or leaders in the department.
  • Provide knowledge and expertise to departments on the appropriate interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure departments are operating in alignment with University best practices related to financial stewardship and business transactions.
  • Approve financial transactions on behalf of departments including journal entries, imports and vouchers.
  • Grant reporting, analysis and effort reporting certification as requested
  • Medical Service plan reporting, analysis and monitoring
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, analysis and surveys as requested from Director of Finance
  • Train other SMHS personnel on use of the PeopleSoft accounting systems, reports and procedures
  • Enter, proof and confirm budget information, budget journal forms, budget adjustments throughout the fiscal year.
  • Use PeopleSoft Finance, Microsoft PowerBI and other UND systems to acquire data
  • Prepare Billings/Process Payment.
  • Departmental payroll and human resources duties.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Four years directly related experience in budgeting and financial management
  • Experience with management of large and diverse budgets
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising organizations on financial and business decision
  • Experience budgeting and preparing financial projections
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Finance and HRMS (Human Resources/Payroll) modules
  • Experience with accounts payapbe systems
  • Experience working with UND policies and procedures

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$47,000 minimum annual, benefited, exempt

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
