Our Komatsu, P, Joy, Montabert, Modular Mining Systems, Hensley Industries, NTC and Gigaphoton equipment and services are used to extract fundamental minerals and develop modern infrastructure.Job OverviewThe Manufacturing Engineer / NC Programmer is a key player in the efficient and effective manufacture of Komatsu Surface Mining Products and Parts. This Role will conduct Manufacturing Engineering and NC Programming activities utilizing CamWorks and will be heavily involved with Design for Manufacturability, Routing, Cost Reductions, Capital Equipment Upgrades or Additions, etc. The Manufacturing Engineer / NC Programmer will also be workng with SolidWorks CAD and determining proper product/part designs for efficient and effective manufacturing. This Role will be heavily involved with a variety of Machining Operations in the Manufacture of various Komatsu Mining Products and Parts.Responsibilities Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates. Read and interpret product design drawings, standards and specifications. Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine part. Participate in pre-production product design reviews to ensure manufacturability of the product design. Determine drawing content (views, sections, details) needed to support production. Writes program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control tape or direct numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path. Develop and document programs for numerically controlled machines, using personal computer software. Revise any programs to eliminate instruction errors or omissions. Examine equipment, processes and operations to determine time or quality revisions and suggest improvements. Investigate new equipment purchases, upgrades and enhancements to existing equipment, evaluate vendor proposals and make recommendations. Determine when new routings, or revisions to existing routings, are needed and create required routings. Determine the workstations and sequence to be used for performing routed operations. Determine and identify tooling and equipment required for routed operations, purchase necessary tooling as needed and schedule machine capability evaluations as needed. Writes instruction sheets and tool lists to guide setup and operation of machine. Participate in operations safety program. Conduct "Workstation Audits" in accordance with quality system requirements. Instruct hourly employees in routed production methods and procedures.Education / Qualification Associate's Degree (AAS.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and Journeyman Machinist Status or 5 years of experience in the machining trades or equivalent experience. Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial) is Strongly Preferred. 1+ year of Mfg Engineering experience along with prior NC Programming experience (on Machine Tools). Previous Experience with or Exposure to CamWorks, MasterCam or other Off-Line Programming along with SolidWorks CAD... Prior Experience/Knowledge developing new and improved manufacturing methods (Design For Manufacturing). Previous Experience/Knowledge with cost reductions, tooling/fixtures and potential capital equipment upgrade needs. Prior Experience/Knowledge with Manufacturing Safety Policies/Procedures Has knowledge of well known Manufacturing/Machining Concepts, Practices and Procedures.We are an equal opportunity employer.
