Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design support of on market products and development of test methodology to support portable medical monitoring devices and associated consumables.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

??? Create 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings of parts and assemblies of portable electronic medical devices.

??? Design for functionality, reliability, ergonomics, manufacturability, and aesthetics.

??? Development, validation, and implementation of test methods and fixtures to support product testing.

??? Planning and execution of qualification activities for new/changing materials, designs, suppliers, and processes.

??? Manage the development and manufacture of plastic injection molded parts and tooling.

??? Root cause design issues to improve designs and successfully take products from concept to production.

??? Perform tolerance, stress and thermal analysis using industry standard FEA and/or CAD tools.

??? Manager relationships with component/material suppliers and contract manufacturers.

??? Perform all these tasks under minimal supervision, and possess the ability to complete all phases of major projects

??? Experience building, customizing and troubleshooting electrical designs including microprocessor-based hardware is a plus.

Education and Experience Requirements

??? Minimum of Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (advanced degree preferred).

??? 7+ years of mechanical design experience in an FDA regulated environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

??? Proficiency with SolidWorks.

??? Strong foundation in mathematics and physical modeling fundamentals.

??? Knowledge of the material properties of metals, plastic resins, and adhesives used in medical devices.

??? Experience using FEA and other analysis tools to inform design decisions.

??? Experience with medical device design control.

??? Experience collaborating with other engineering disciplines and industrial designers.

??? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

??? Project management experience preferred.

??? Experience with medical device labeling is preferred.

??? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
