Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our South Milwaukee, WI location, the Automation Engineer is a dynamic role that combines technical and communication skills to ensure that the facility meets all governmental requirements for safety, quality and productivity. As the Automation Engineer, you will be in the unique role to interact with all internal departments, corporate IT support staff and external contractors in order to maintain and improve electrical controls.
As an Automation Engineer you will:
Maintain and enforce safety programs to ensure a safe environment for all employees
Monitor facility systems utilizing various computer software programs
Evaluate and improve electrical control systems including PLC data collection and display
Troubleshoot multiple manufacturers electrical components and input/output devices
Assist and train onsite electricians in troubleshooting equipment electrical issues
Monitor and troubleshoot facility electrical systems including high voltage
Provide electrical planning assistance in multiple capital projects

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent education with solid, proven history of electrical controls capabilities
Five plus years working in a manufacturing environment with automation control systems
Foundry equipment experience a strong plus
Strong PLC knowledge with understanding of multiple manufacturing systems
Ability to connect equipment input/output data into facility computer monitoring system
Knowledge of Wonderware for data collection and display is a strong plus
Knowledge of NFPA 70 electrical codes
Ability to create ladder diagrams
Legal authorization to work in the United States -
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Ability to develop PLC and HMI software programs
Knowledge and experience in statistical process control methodology

Knowledge and practical experience with lean manufacturing principles

Ability to effectively train electricians and operators pertaining to control systems
