Position Summary:
The Video Editor will be primarily responsible for video editing both in post-production, and as a live-to-tape video switcher for USCCA's Protector Academy video training platform. While editing and facilitating live and live-to-tape productions will be the main focus knowledge of all aspects of video production would be very important for this candidate with the company's rapidly growing slate of projects. This includes, but is not limited to: pre-production, script reviews, video and audio recording and editing, set construction, prop management, shipping and receiving of materials, cataloging video for archival storage, site survey and talent management, live broadcast direction.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of video post-production, live, and live-to-tape projects.
  • Oversee digital video and audio editing.
  • Review scripts and proposals with an eye toward final output.
  • Ensure that video projects meet USCCA brand standards.
  • Submit closed captioning of completed projects, and attached captioning to platforms.
  • Seek out and remain current on the latest training opportunities to ensure productions meet the highest standards.
  • Review video presentations with an eye toward continuity and best-in-class production values.
  • Content curation and archiving digital assets (e.g. videos, graphic designs, downloads).
  • Assist with the upload and distribution of video assets, including search engine optimization.
  • Oversee actions of the Video Editing Assistants assigned to your team, and/or communication with freelance editors.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the USCCA brand and maintain its integrity in content execution.
  • Develop processes within the Video Team and across the organization to ensure consistency of edits, schedule management and clear strategy for new video, audio, photo products.
  • Design, implementation and oversight of content post-production workflow, including scheduling and resource allocation to ensure productions are completed on time and within budget.
  • Create USCCA branded videos that engage and inspire consumers to take action.
  • Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot all post-production infrastructure, software, and plugins.
  • Articulate creative rationale through strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Be fluent in what's trending as cool in the consumer landscape and have the ability to communicate that to the video team.
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to translate scripts and their info to screen in the most effective ways possible.
  • Work with internal teams and project requesters to create and execute branded content in the style/tone desired.
  • Research and remain current on the developments and applications of state of the art content production technology and trends.
  • Continually refine and test content strategy to advance our brand and drive audience growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in either Film/Video, Communications, or similar media driven majors, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years experience in professional content production environments, demonstrating competence in all areas of video/audio/photo post-production.
  • Demonstrated experience in being current with cultural norms, style, trends in the consumer landscape Experience in a corporate studio environment.
  • Expert-level knowledge of all professional post-production procedures, practices, techniques, and terminology.
  • Skill with professional production equipment operation including video cameras (Sony cameras) and recorders (SlingStudio, VMix), SAN/NAS file storage, audio recording equipment, file compression, graphics manipulation, lighting, and proper handling and troubleshooting of broadcast quality video production equipment.
  • Expert level skill in Non-Linear Editing. Final Cut Pro X is our main editing software, and Adobe Premiere for archived projects.
  • Experienced in creating Motion Graphics, Plugins, Titles and Visual FX utilizing various tools (Motion, Compressor, After Effects, Photoshop, Motion VFX, etc.)
  • Availability to work occasional off hours, nights and weekends, as well as travel as necessary for preplanned video shoots.
  • Proficiency with Apple products and Mac OS.
  • Must communicate effectively with individuals and groups.

  • Extensive experience in digital video editing preferably using Final Cut Pro X
  • Degree or equivalent work experience in Video, Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting or a related field

Education requirements: Combination of education and experience working with video production equipment and video editing software. Associates Degree in Video Production preferred. Working knowledge of firearms, office computer systems and office software. Working knowledge of photographic lighting equipment.
