    Development Engineer

    Walter USA, LLC has an opening for a Development Engineer with a successful track record providing tooling and process solutions to customers in an industrial cutting tool sales environment. This position is responsible for the successful development and delivery of new customer-oriented solutions and project quotations (including approval drawings) in a timely and accurate manner, and for the handling of special projects for customer tooling. This position will act as lead person in the development department section. In that capacity, this position will provide technical assistance to other Quoting & Special Project Engineers regarding the completion of special projects, problem solving, and prioritization of workflow to ensure customer satisfaction. This position will also support Field Application Engineers to support global efforts focusing on industry specific process solutions. This Position will transfer the newest Technology solution from HQ and adjust and implement to the USA Market.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Providing technical solutions to customers, Field Sales Engineers, and Walter local and global Engineering efforts
    • Develop and maintain technical expertise in Aerospace & Medical Sector in USA
    • Manage, own, and assign tasks through CRM
    • Develop and implement the process solutions provided to customers
    • Processing of customer components utilizing CAD/CAM, the latest tooling technology, tool life estimates and cost per part and ROI calculations
    • Support other segments on demand
    • Manage and work in conjunction with HQ to successfully deliver projects from other regions to USA
    • Detect and manage training needs in Engineering Development team, for technology, systems and processes
    • Maintain up to date relevant knowledge of Walter products, Engineering systems and processes provided by HQ
    • Monitor the growth of business and focus on Aerospace & Medical Customers
    • Complete reports and communicate the status of projects to Engineering Director WUS, President of Walter West as required.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by President.

    Your Profile

    • Master's degree in engineering or 10-15 years of experience in Applications Engineering and Manufacturing processes
    • 10-15 Years Proven Customer & Application support function especially in Aerospace Engine Applications
    • Extensive knowledge of cutting tool application, design and machining processes implementation and improvement required
    • Great machining process analytical skills (From rough material definition- until final product)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with presentation skills
    • Project management experience required. Ability to coordinate and act on multiple projects at one time
    • Experience in building customer relations
    • Experience in global know-how transfer
    • Sales experience helpful
    • Microsoft Office package - advance level required
    • Understanding of CAD/CAM software
    • Knowledge of programming and editing CNC Machines
    • Industry knowledge especially Aerospace Engine & Medical.
    • 'Role Model' and ability to motivate and encourage people
    • Understanding cultural differences and ability to think 'cross-border'
    • Ability to travel up 50% of the time in region and internationally
    • Must be proficient in English language; German and Spanish/ Polish helpful
    • Must have project supervision experience in coordinating all efforts towards the successful conclusion of projects
    • Shall carry himself/herself in a professional way with an exemplary attitude toward working companions, customers and daily activities
