Job Summary

Organizes and coordinates all camping services for Sanford Health's children’s summer camps. Coordinates with the grants department to secure funding. Works with the Foundation in organizing community fundraising activities. Ensures families' eligibility for Children's Miracle Network (CMN) funds and monitors accuracy of applications. Assists with department payroll functions, budget, inventory of camping supplies, and is fiscally accountable for all camps. Collaborates with other departments such as legal, payroll, foundation as well as outside vendors. Works with vendors, monitoring endowments. Manages day-to-day operations of camping processes, i.e. processing of all camping applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all registrations.
The Camp Coordinator oversees, educates, and trains all camp counselors, counselors in training, summer camp interns, physicians, and nursing personnel. Works with human resources department in personnel functions such as recruiting and selecting staff as well as ensuring background checks are completed. Works with executive leadership to develop, review, revise, and uphold all policies and procedures. Maintains compliance of all organizational, governmental, or regulatory agency requirements and/or standards.
Fosters relationships with potential donors. Must have excellent communication and listening skills including public speaking. Ability to interact effectively with various types of people. Must have strong empathy and understanding of family dynamics: anxiety, fear and loss. Must be able to lead and motivate others. Must be able to effectively teach required programs for counselors, program staff, nursing staff, and physicians. Must be self-motivated and work with little or no supervision. Must be organized yet flexible to handle responsibilities within the role. Must understand budgets, grant writing, and financial systems. Must have strong computer skills and use a variety of software applications. May require evening, weekend, holiday hours especially during summer months.

Strong leadership team in which to work, strong camp history and organizational and community support for camps, and recurrent summer staff who love our kids who come back each year to our 3 current camps (Camp Bring it On - Children with Cancer; Camp Super Kids - Children with Asthma; Spirit Camp - Children with Spina Bifida)

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Area of focus in Recreational Activities, Child Life, Childhood Development, Education or related field.
Experience with special needs children preferred.
Valid driver's license required. Must maintain good driving record. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
