Job Summary

Assists in delivering behavior analysis services and implements established treatment plans developed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Completes structured on the job training consisting of observing, studying, data collecting and practicing interventions to achieve proficiency before skills are administered independently. May provide assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities that may include, but are not limited to feeding, obtaining and recording vital signs, data collection and providing psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned patients. Completes tasks related to food preparation and feeding interventions. Monitors patients' physical and emotional well-being and reports unusual behavior or physical ailments to medical staff. Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a range of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills. Fades prompts appropriately to promote independent responding.
Collects and manages data to monitor progression towards goals of individualized treatment plan. Supports the BCBA with training families on individualized treatment plans. Encourages patients and families to develop work skills and to participate in social, recreational or other therapeutic activities that enhance interpersonal skills or develop social relationships.
Must have good human relations and communication skills. Must be able to follow procedures and instructions due to working under close supervision of the BCBA. Must be able to acquire a basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.

Department Details

Small, highly skilled team of professionals providing evidenced based feeding therapy. Schedule of Monday through Friday. Working mostly with pediatric patients and families.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field required. At least one year working with children with developmental disabilities or behavioral problems preferred.
If registered, most hold and maintain current certification as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) as issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within one year of hire.
