Job Summary

Evaluates, plans, instructs, and monitors athletic training programs to help athletes prevent damage, restore function, and reach maximum level of independence. Evaluating athletes’ sports related injuries, physical conditions, and needs; recommending a scientific care plan to include schedule, treatment programs, and related education based on their capabilities and limitations. Utilizing appropriate assistive devices to protect athletes from injury; Explaining and updating safety rules governing daily training, recreational activities, and the use of professional exercise equipment. Implementing and monitoring athletic training programs for rehabilitation and reconditioning according to athlete's diagnosis and real-time condition. Documenting and interpreting appropriate information gathered from a variety of sources, including the medical record, physician, and family. Utilize appropriate testing/evaluation techniques to assess injuries (including concussions). May perform concussion testing (neurocognitive, balance, vestibular/oculomotor).

Department Details

This Athletic Trainer will be participate in the following job duties and responsibilities:
• Work side by side with Provider or APP.
• Application of braces.
• Educate patients on exercise routines as directed as well as crutch training.
• Responsible for the removal of staples/sutures as well as Dressing changes as needed.
• Will be taught how to cast and apply splints.
• Assist Provider with paperwork needs.
• Assist Provider with answering phone notes and my chart notes from patients.
• Will complete intake and rooming of patients.
• Will assist with sports physicals.
Experience preferred but not required.

Qualifications

Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
Must be certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification and be licensed and/or registered in state(s) of practice (North Dakota and Minnesota).
and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
Based on facility needs, driver's license may be required, including good driving record.
Job duties will include: working beside Provider or APP. Completing intake on patients and getting them into exam room. Assisting with drawing up of medications and prepping injection site. Removing staples/sutures. Dressing changes as needed. Assisting Provider with paperwork/return to work paperwork, phone notes and mychart messages. Assist with scheduling additional testing if needed. Application of braces. Will be taught how to apply casts to extremities. May go over crutch training and various exercise programs for patients. Assist with Sports Physicals.
