Position Summary:
We are an industry leader in the design and development of Aluminum Fish and Recreational Boats. We are seeking a candidate with 1-5 years’ experience in electrical product design and development. Responsible candidate’s will lead the electric design process from components, systems, assemblies, & the master model architecture. This will be done from concept to production following the product development process and timeline. The successful candidate will have 1 - 5 years electrical engineering or similar field experience, using 3D modelling tools such as Solidworks electrical, and/or other 3D modeling tools. This position does have the flexibility to work remote within a 200 mile radius of the office and travel into the office on a need be basis.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design and development of DC harnesses for the marine market, from concept through production release
- Participate in all phases of new product development, especially Concept Development, Design Validation and Production Process Validation.
- Coordinate efforts as necessary between Product Development & Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Quality & suppliers.
- Serve as subject-matter expert (SME) for electric machine design and development
- Participate in the Engineering Change Request/Notification (ECR/ECN) process as needed, including writing ECR’s and approving
- Work closely with other Product Development and Engineering personnel to establish, update and manage Bills of Material.
- Contribute and Lead problem solving activities and cost reduction tasks
- Support system-level boat testing and validation of electronics on the boat
- Participate in and facilitate failure analysis and corrective actions
- Provide project teams with cost tracking to established target cost throughout the product development cycle
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work among cross-functional teams
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum B.S. Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of engineering experience working with DC electronics and systems
- Basic understanding of electrical harness fabrication tools and processes
- Knowledge of GD&T print documentation
- The individual would be strong in 3D modeling and problem solving
- Must have good written and verbal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
- Strong accurate analytical problem-solving skills.
- Individual must be self-motivated and capable of working in a team or individual non-supervised environment.
- Basic knowledge of the products produced as well as design and manufacturing processes.
- Must have a working knowledge of a Bill of Material, its development and application.
- Ability to independently analyze risk, make recommendations to the appropriate authority and when solicited make decisions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficient working with Solidworks electrical and/or other electrical modeling CAD systems
- Understanding of DFMA tools and software a benefit.
- Less than 15-20% travel to be expected in a year.
